One guy had his snap in that link. Another user actually comments its rare and he has only heard of 6 failing.

Always the way. 100s of thousands of something work fine. A handful break and you get weirdos going round saying they are all shit and everyone is doomed. Like the vxr gearbox.

The guy who owned the car was even told by two VW specialists who quoted him for the work that it's very common.. It's like turbos on pre 2006 X5's.. It's reasonably common for them last 80k then shit their pants.
