I was fairly sure that would be the case, but thought it would be worth double checking as its not really a permanent change

You don't. Its temporary.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who do I need to advise about my vehicle wrap?

DVLA – there is no current legal requirement to inform the DVLA, as this is only a temporary change. A vinyl wrap can be removed at any time, returning your vehicle back to it’s original condition. Please see updates and further information on our website.

Insurance – you must advise your insurance of any work and the value of work that you have done on your vehicle. It could affect a future claim if you don’t.

Full colour change – the police use databases that show the colour of your car against DVLA registrations. A vinyl wrap colour will not show on this database and so if you do get stopped, you will have to explain the wrap process. This can easily be proved by showing the underside of the vehicle’s bonnet or an unwrapped part of the car.

I would still change it. Your vehicle is a different colour, its only going to take one moaning little shit in a Police uniform and the hassle will be yours. Take you five minutes.

Then you'd take great pleasure in telling the moaning little shit you read up on the subject before hand and know there's no need to inform the DVLA. I know you fucked up with your first post but it doesn't mean you need to convince him to still do it

Sorry, was offering my opinion on a public chat forum?! Good luck telling the Police man you know the law better than he does (even if you're right!) And for the sake of 2minutes filling out a paper slip and 60p stamp I would do it. Even if I didn't have to.

Nope it's one point that vinyl wrapping companies market is that you don't need to declare it

They do that when tints are illegal. Wrapping is not illegal.
