Yeah proper projectors and self levelling but with the car being lowered, the self levelling dosn't work as it needs re-calibrated. Vectra B.

I think 1st step would be to get them set up on the beam setter as i messed about with them ages ago, got them better, but still not as good as they could be.

Both 35w kits iv had have been utter crap to the point with the replacement set that I went back to standard bulbs. Mighta just been a crappy manufacture but I just put a set of 55's in and the differencr is night and day.

You've been buying crap ones. Majority of kits that are out there are 35w.

It's projector headlights thats in it, but it's fitted with normal h7 55w bulbs

Was infront of a mk4 golf with what I can only assume were 25000k hid's. Jesus Christ they were awful.

They were projector headlamps but the beam pattern on the floor was awful when he went past me.

HIDs in halogen (wrong) projector bowls:

As you can see the light is not focussed properly, meaning it is concentrated in different places known as "hot spots" There is no defined cut off and there is glare and dark spots.

This is how an HID/Xenon/Gas discharge buld should look when used in a proper xenon projector designed to focus the light correctly.

My hids don't look like the top ones, but they aren't perfect like the bottom one either.

To get them looking like those at the bottom, do I just need xenon projectors? Xenons were an option on z4's so getting them may not be too difficult.

If you have H1/4/7 rebased bulbs then you will need a Xenon projector that accepts those types of bulbs. I have some H1 projectors still that are great and can be had cheap!

If the Z4 came with them stock, you would probably need them coding as well as the ballasts too on top of the light unit. Wont be cheap? I could be wrong though.

My complete E36 FXR setup cost me £350 for headlights, ballasts, bulbs (phillips D2S) projectors, shipping and brackets.

Fitted the hid's

What a difference, the beam is more like the bottom pic than the top one Jambo posted.

Mine do kick up a little though, but I'm pretty sure they have to for the MOT
