So, off to Alton Towers on Thursday 8th May.

What's the deal with the tickets on eBay?? They are just like a receipt with a barcode on them. Plenty for sale for that date, could pick up on the way etc or have them posted out but is that how they are??

Or could get the 2 for 1 deal thing from the cereal boxes but theres only 3 of us going, so does the 4th person need to be present or do they give you the ticket??

The print at home tickets are just a barcode which you scan on entry.

For the 2for1 you'd need 4 people.
Find a random on the day and offer them half price entry if they tag along at the entrance desk? Done that before.

Most of the tickets on eBay are the 1s from The Sun newspaper. Are they the print at home tickets or have they been sent out to the claimer??

Worth a punt for the massive saving, but i will take some vouchers with me just incase lol.

Go down the cereal aisle or look through the kit kats in your local supermarket for promotional packs. You might look a bit retarded but I have had vouchers for legoland from both before.

Ive got some cereal tokens to take. But the saving to be had from buying the tickets on eBay is crazy lol.

Have done a bit of googling also and found some things that might be a set-back.

1. Apparently Alton Towers have been cancelling tickets being sold on eBay, where the serial number can be seen. Due to them being not for resale.

2. Some of the tickets are just for the rides, and entry at the gate still needs to be paid.

How does that work? You don't pay for rides? Queue jumper things?

Not sure. It was in a sellers previous ticket sales and he had noted it was just for the rides, but to get into the park still required a small fee to be paid.

Most of the tickets on eBay are the ones where you can pay either £5 to return the next day or £9 to return any day up to a certain date. We do it most years. Buy one get one free the first day then buy the next days tickets for £10.

The Sun ones aren't registered to any one person. It's just people trying to cash in.

Tickets arrived today. They are the free tickets from The Sun newspaper, look to be genuine.

So will have 2 spare tickets for sale if anyone fancies a day out at AT tomorrow lol.

On another note, the seller requested i give him feedback as soon as they arrive. Erm, no. How about i give you feedback once ive actually used the tickets.

Well, tickets worked fine. Selling the others not so great as it would seem the English either don't trust a Scotsman, don't wan't a bargain, or simply aren't that great at maths. I was asking £20 for the pair, and they seemed to think they were paying the same with those promotion tickets from the cereal boxes.

Was drizzly, then dried up, then just as we were leaving, mega downpour.

On another note though, we managed to dodge the 70min wait time for the smiler. Public relations bloke came up to us as we were about to que, said he would get us to the front of the que, and all we had to do was ask the worker at the end of the que her name, how many times it went upside down, then meet him in the shop once we got off. Done deal.

I was nearly a non rider after standing waiting seen a few maintenance blokes rushing around and sent 2 trains around with no real passengers, just those water filled weights. Girl just said it was routine maintenance and everything was fine.

It didn't seem so appealing at that point lol.
