Its a bit of a long shot this but has anybody ever weighed a 1.2 8V engine? I am trying to think up a mad idea as to what to do with my old corsa, I was considering designing a tubular space frame chassis, sticking that engine in the back and making a hill climb car.
Also I am struggling to remember the engine number. Its a 1.2 8V engine with a coil pack. The car is currently in my grandmas garage with the brakes seized on and no charge in the battery. Cant be bothered to check the engine haha

What sort of hills are you expecting to be able to climb with a 1.2 8v

Granted its a shit engine but I've got a decent runner that has had a couple of quid spent on it. Was thinking if I can design a 40kg chassis it would be a laugh. In order to design a chassis I need to know what engine will be in thats why I considered using this engine.
I probably won't go a head and build this but fancy designing another chassis

Going to end up weighing 600kg even if you're very handy with the grinder.
Also its hugely expensive to do it in the correct tube. Ideally you want CDS and lots of it. I would think you'd be close to a grand on materials before you've done any bends or cutting. If you're having someone else do that, multiply everything by 5.

X12XE iirc
Your putting yourself at a major disadvantage with a 1.2 8v. I bet a 1.4 or 1.6 wouldnt weigh that much more but over double your power.
Also, if going into hillclimb you'll be in a class with kit cars etc regardless of engine size so wont even be nearly competitive to enjoy it
