You've never had to present that to a user who has been using outlook for 15 years and has 0 interest in changing/learning.
I get the benefits and downfalls of the various options, I just have to work with them in real life scenarios.

I've switched around five companies over from using IMAP and SMTP services within Outlook to using Google Apps. But yes, no experience.

Do they use the web interface for emails?

iPhones, iPads and the web interface. The selling points are the Google Calendar which is arguably better than the one in older versions of Outlook, the fact that it works really well with mobiles and there's also the fact that the people who I've switched over have been the ones that have previously used the email bundled with their web hosting.

Didn't say you had no experience Ed but it's exactly what I do every day.
Loads of variables which would at first seem to be the best solution which just won't work in that specific instance.

I think one of the big changes is the pricing structures. The cost compared to 10 years ago has gone down quite a bit.
Microsoft also have got great penetration into the education sector meaning that parents have kids with 365 and so its easy for them to get 365 and if they are using it at home, then use it for work for continuity

I use both on a daily basis and I'd choose 365 over apps any day.
Not saying apps doesn't have it's advantages.

To save to the cloud?
What security level like on MS cloud based hosting, last I heard from an MS guy about a year ago was IL2, not high enough for anything which could hold kids data

This is for the SMBs I support Steve. I'm very OCD about school data so I host everything internally.
But, Office 365 is good for education in the UK.

All I can say is be grateful you don't have to use Lotus Notes. The worst in the world. Even worse that I know we will never stop using it at work.
