Not in hand baggage. Hold was fine a few years back not sure about now.

Flight isn't booked yet, work will do all that side. I just turn up at the airport.

Perfectly fine in Hold Baggage. I do this all the time btw.

I have a suitcase that is purely for Tooling/Test Equipment & PPE, and it's been all over the world like that without bother.

Do you need/have a working visa?

We have had guys locked up in brazil for 24 hours for not having the correct visa to work, rather than for personal leisure.

May not count in the EU etc, but always worth considering

No visa for Nordics worked over there plenty of times

Completely depends on where you go, and if you get stopped/who stops you.

We used to travel everywhere on Tourist Visas/Visa on Arrivals and very very rarely had any issues, even with a case of tooling & PPE. Normally telling them you were going to a site for meetings would be good enough.

We use Business Visas now though, but only due to our corporate Legal team changing and them being managed by a US head office now, who are much more 'precious' about any legal matters.



I've only ever had two issues with tooling and overseas working - getting hassled over specialist instruments when I was leaving Israel, and them not letting me take them on the plane and sending them separately (by far the WORST country for paranoid Airport security I have ever dealt with, even worse than the US), and more recently, having to pay a percentage based 'tax' of the total value of specialist equipment for a permit to carry Tooling in Peru.

Bear in mind I travel overseas on a monthly basis or more frequently, and have done for almost 8 years, that's pretty good going for not getting hassled.

When we enter most country's we just say we are supervising and the tools are specialist tools needed for the job,
Nice when we go to work on a us airbase we usually get escorted straight through passport control etc no questions asked.

Tool wise I have a tool box I take with me every where sort of flight bag sized weighs about 40kg, never had any hassle any where, usually goes free as a second bag just to having gold or platinum class with the airlines
