From what I have heard KL is similar to Singapore in that it's good, but for a few days max. We went to Borneo and Singapore last year and really liked both.

I love Malaysia, Been 3 times now. KL is a great city and well worth having a few days there. We stayed at Traders and was amazing hotel.
Penang is beatiful aswell, I probably prefer Langkawi as more of a cut off island and cables cars into the rainforest etc but both are worth visiting.
I just booked my flights yesterday to Bangkok and still contemplating visiting Malaysia again or explore Thailand fully.
