I'm aware of the cam chain noise and it's on the to do list. I jet washed the engine block today (obviously bagging up the electrics) and whilst the bonnet was up with engine ticking over I noticed a loud ticking noise coming from the middle back part of the engine.

Any ideas what this might be please?

Definitely wasn't there before yoh did the wash or you'd never run the engine with bonnet up before and just not noticed it?

My Mrs injectors and throttle body area tick quite loudly.

The noise itself has been there since I bought the car. I just assumed it was cam chain.

I realised it was too far back when I was cleaning the bay

Might be the coil pack arc'ing because the plug holes are sodden.

My 2001 1.2 sxi had that tick noise
