pics of your old one davey
I've had a few..
The older ones are a doddle to lift, cost about £20 to get this:
The later ones require coil springs and longer shocks:
I havent got any photos of my SWB

What are fronteras with A/T like to live with every day, I do 15 miles on a motorway 3 times a week and the rest is short journeys.
How reliable are they? (compared to say a corsa sport )
Whats the best engine?

A/T's dont really drive any different to regular tyres.. M/T's are awful on the road, loads of noise, bad for economy etc. but they look the nuts and work so well in mud and snow..
The BEST engine is the 2.8TD but you'll only find that on the older models.. The other oil burner lumps are a bit crap, the modern 2.2Dti is acceptable.
The 2.0 8v is the same bullet proof lump used in all the other models.
The 2.2 is a bit hit and miss, the earlier models use the X22XE which is terrible, the later ones have the later version which is much more reliable.

Engine's will go for ever if it's been looked after what ever age.
True, I ment rot. As in chassis, bulkhead, footwells e.t.c.
Having said that, I picked up a Series 3 landy on ebay a few weeks back with 10months MOT and not rot whatso ever for £600

My biased answer: Land Rover/Range Rover
Other suggestions: Ford Maverick/Nissan Terrano, Suzuki Vitara
Edit: didn't see when this thread was from.
