Our drive and patio has been down for 3-4 years, we live in semi-rural area so seeds are forever getting blown off the fields and over this way and as such both the drive and patio are starting to get loads of weeds growing up between the cracks.
I've tried weed killer but it hasn't made the slightest difference and the jet wash doesn't touch the little fuckers!
I've found this stuff at Wickes to help prevent them coming bac, but obviously I need to kill and remove them first:

Any tips other than a blow torch as it will probably cost a small fortune in gas

One of those brushes. Takes time, but that's the best way of doing it.

What brush is that? Some secret tool I don't know about?

Can't say if the sand works in the long run btw. Used some on our own patio, but it's only been a couple of months.

I've never seen one of those before, that's the nuts...
Just checked local Wickes and Homebase, looks like HB has got them so I'll nip over there and grab one:

Thats what my dad uses for his. As said, it's a long process and rather boring, but it'll definitely get rid of the weeds.
I've not seen that sand before, but would be interested to know whether it works or not.

People complaining that weed's coming back within days definitely didn't remove roots probably.
From what I understand, the sand works by not allowing new seeds to sprout. If roots are already in place, weeds will be back in no time.
Either way, open gaps between the blocks is heaven for weeds as seed collects in the furrows. They need filling up with sand. Unless you have a huge area to cover, you might as well go for the "no weed" type imo.

ive used one of them brushes, really tedious but well worth it.
Can get them from Home Bargains or B&M if you have one. Only a couple of quid for exactly the same thing.

I need to do this in the garden, bloody weeds coming up everywhere :-( that brush looks ok but the roots tend to be lower than that can reach. I was thinking once you've done the brush bit spray some weed killer down and it should get into the exposed roots. Then jet wash and run sand back into the joints. Very time consuming

That Bayer stuff is the nuts!
Sprayed a load down on Sunday and the weeds are clearly dying already, so much better than the Weedol shit I tried before which pretty much seems to do fuck all.
FYI They sell Bayer Path and Bayer Path & Driveway.. The Path one had about 10 times more of the active ingredients and it was £4 cheaper! Cheeky fuckers
