So basically, you didn't scrap the car.

I scrapped a Freelander, got £1700 for it.

Sorry I meant I went to webuyanycar.com

Did I say scrap? I meant sell. I was just keen to say something that somehow made it appropriate to get the link in there.

Incidentally, your site is fucked

Maybe get it running right prior to the plugs eh.

Oh wait

800 you say.

Still keen for a quote on a ton so I'm waiting for the call.

Just spoken to them, £40/ton on the bridge, same as everyone else.

If you want more, it needs to be complete. Although if you also want more, strip it and sell the bits.

No idea why you can't just say we strip it and sell the bits and the money goes to charity as it would appear. Which is fine. But its not £800 for an old Focus.

I think the only thing most people own outright these days is their clothes and packed lunch, the rest is pay monthly

Shopping around does work, as what yards will pay depends on a huge number of factors including their overheads, their stock level and most importantly the supply contracts they have. That's why at the minute it can be anywhere from £0 to £150+ for the same car depending on where you go.

That's how it works round here anyway. Think about it, yards all offering the same price would indicate a cartel, which is illegal.
