Had the fiesta in for a scuff plate replacement and when I got the car back about an hour later I noticed the mechanic turned off the auto headlight switch, the radio didn't turn on when I started the car and he put up my sun visor. When I've taken in past cars they've done more or less the same during services, including relocating air fresheners but I never thought much of it.

Whats the reason for this? Company procedure or is it to try and power down any hidden recording devices?

They hoovered my car though so can't complain.

Sometimes the mechanics sneak into a customer car to have homosexual sex, probably knocked a load of bits with legs and arms all over the place.

I am truly sorry to hear that your local garage has caused such devastating and irreversible changes to your car.

Genuine question. If I knew I wouldn't be asking.

Seats smell fine.

They haven't. Just wondering if this is garage procedure considering it was only booked in to replace a part and not a service or mot.

The auto headlights being off is because they will turn on inside the workshop. Radio off because they probably didn't want to blast clyde FM out through the dealership.

Those Scuff plates have a terrible failure rate. Proper shoddy electrics.

So I've read. Replaced under warranty so can't complain.

I take this as no one knows or there is no standard procedure. Cheers lads.

My Focus went for an MOT. I was unloved at the time, probably 5k on dirt on the outside and similar on the in. Came back to me looking like new

The auto headlights thing is true. Not sure about the radio, though ours has been the same in the past after going in for bits and bobs.

Not sure if its procedure but I too would move the visor if I didn't need it and turn the lights and radio off indoors.

Climate always seems to be turned off too when mine go in but I'd assumed it was something to do with a "reset" happening when they update the ECU?

Has anyone ever woken up after general anaesthetic for a dental procedure and got home to find their boxers on back to front?

I usually do the same, habit mainly. As Ben said. Auto lights will come on once inside most of the time. If it's a car that's in for days, and gets moved about a few times. Auto xenons can flatten it pretty quick. I know yours was only an hour, but still maybe cause of habit. Same with radio. I usually leave them, but if it's a shit song I'll just turn it off

I sometimes move seats, mirrors etc of cars. Has to be done sometimes. Most of the time I don't. But like when a woman drops her car off and the seat is as far forward as it goes I have no option.
