My Axle stands have started chewing away at the self levelling shit that's been used to patch up the garage floor. Just sit them on a bit of plywood. Sometimes hear a bit of cracking as the stand takes some weight, but nothing too dramatic.

That's what I was thinking! I'll get some ply wood tomorrow
Next question! If I remove the brake discs and calipers can I still bolt on some wheels?

I doubt it - I'd expect the wheel bolts to bottom out on the brake shield etc.

a sheet of rubber matting works well
or plywood but this will not last as long.

Ideally pack the wheel out with washers but this will be a prick as its on bolts not studs and nuts.

Could use shims of some sort? You got any 5x100 wheels/tyres you need rid of?

Yeah anything that will act like the disc. I've also got discs here if you're local at any point this week. Got wheels but no tyres on them.

Got a mate that might be able to provide free tyres. Free discs?

You could always buy some small pieces of Kevlar!
I wish I still had the will to perform drive way mechanics.. I used to love playing spanners in the summer on the drive but now it just fills me full of dread
