Just checked it and it's due it. Will mention it to the garage and get them to get it done before I get it. Will wait for my plate to transfer onto it anyway if I do end up buying it anyway so gives them plenty time.

Sure I've read somewhere that it makes it slower?

I was talking to someone today who works for vw as a mechanic, he said he gets better mpg since he had the emissions sorted on his scirocco

I'm on the look out for a a3 tdi black edition.

Mark they will come and collect the car they did when the car from work needed doing. They come from Liverpool to collect it. It gets a valet and a health check.

I did fancy an a3 black edition but it's just a touch too small for the wee one. Got an Astra just now and the a3 is probably smaller than it

Not so much at that age, but yes the older 140bhp models.

My 2006 2.0 tdi 140bhp put me off getting another vag tdi. I'd get a tsi or tfsi.

Think I warned you about that when you made a thread saying you were offered it

I moved onto a Tfsi, they have issues aswell, but if maintained don't give a lot of bother, the best one to go for is the 3.2 My dad bought one and hasnt had any problems whatsoever.

I had a mk6 golf with that engine. It was very good. Did have an EML light once, other than that fine.

My VRS is due to go back for this emission recall but I won't have it done - loads of complaints about it on the Skoda forum.

To me seems expensive for a 7 year old car

Not sure I would run an Audi out of warranty - that's having owned one and running one now

They are not the list reliable and the electrics leave a lot to to be desired

Seem to hold value quite well. At 76k, this one is low mileage as well.

Aye it is expensive for a 7 year old car. I am slightly put off with it being that old as I've got a 13 plate Astra just now.

Any other ideas what to have for 10k? Diesel preferably and a 5 door. Sporty or more premium car I'm easy?

I've got the B7 estate and no issues with it to date, on 126k now bought it on 108k. But then I only paid £4700. I looked at the newer ones and they seem to hold the value well, can't decide between that or the new 3 series

Considered an insignia? Theyre actually a really big step up from the astras and look well with the better wheels on

I paiid less than that for my 2011 VRS diesel. Should get a nice 12/13 plate for that money.

Nice to drive, quick, huuuuuge boot for family shit. Love it!

Big thread on PistonHeads about the recall. Allot slower and odd noises coming from the engine.

Would avoid having it done if you can.

I've got the 2.0 177 diesel in my A5. Great motor and very smooth. But mines only a baby mileage wise. I'm getting decent MPG average for mostly town and 3 days motorway driving. It's currently on 47.8 average but I get over 50 on a good run. It’s nippy too.

As for the VAG emission SW squirt. I opted to not have it done on my last service 3 weeks ago. I did have to sign a piece of paper to state they offered but I refused. A mate of mine had it done not so long ago on his Golf and he's his convinced it’s decreased the torque when pulling mid-range. How accurate that is I can’t say but I like the way my car is so with the emissions SW squirt not being mandatory, I left it
