Don't know but that BP advert where that smug voiceover guy is like 'ooooh you're dragging an anchor behind you' can utterly do one, at best exaggeration at worst a complete lie.

Yeah does my head in too. I can't believe it actually makes massive (if any) difference in terms of fuel economy or power, I'm really only interested in using it if it actually helps with longevity of the engine/turbos/stops soot etc etc

The actual 'fuel' content of diesel and petrol is very tightly controlled and regulated so the 'special' fuels simply contain additives (detergent octane/cetane boosters and lubricants).. The scientific evidence to backup the benefits of these fuels is pretty weak.

You probably filled up 20 miles sooner on the standard stuff, not a good test at all.

That's a 3% change which could easily be down to driving styles, traffic or even just weather differences.

I just use Esso standard diesel in mine.
It's local and I get Tesco points
Unless the car run like a bag of shite, I don't see the point with amount of traffic we have on our roads.

The average prices for diesel (right now) are:
Regular 123.2
Premium 136.5
That's a 9.8% increase in price to get your 3.5% increase in efficiency.. Do you even Maths?

It needs to be about 8p/litre cheaper to make a difference with your 'mileage improvements'

premium diesel only helps to clean dirty engines. The small increase in cetane rating wont do anything significant.
