select like a wing on a car. I want to change the colour but using the wand just selects one area of the wing. Am i doing it totally wrong?? And how do actually change the colour? using the brush??

change colour using

image > adjustment > colour balance
or
image > adjustment > hue/saturation

use polyganal Tool (spelling?) gives you more control over what you select.
