Sub in the boot (10 - 12in), decent components up front (5.25 + 1inch 120 - 200 watt) personally i would have two separate 2 channel amps one for the sub and one for the comps that way you dont compramise and the cost isnt two different, set it up properly and it will sound mint.

Alpine Amps arent really up to much, when its comes down to it, and VP4? PMSL Dont get me started on Vibe Whys this not in Ice and Electrics, you'd get more educated answers in there!
Headunits and other similar bits(changers, and mutimedia selecters, screens stuff like that) Alpine
Amps, people like Genesis, Phoenix Gold, Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, JL Audio, MTX, and my current favourite - MA Audio!
Subs - Kicker, Rockford, JL
Speakers - Focal, Infinity, CDT
Bits and Bobs Phoenix gold Ti range

get the L7, MUCH better than the L5. Use a small sealed box, better than ported IMO for the L7's, an amp 30% more powerful than the subs RMS rating and yes, infinity comps are great.

When u say speakers, do you mean subs, or speakers?
£400 on subs, try to get 2 10" L7's
£400 on subs+speakers get JL 12W6 and the most expensive Focal components you can afford
