i was 19 wen i had 2 renuew my car insurance on my corsa C club 1.2 16v x reg and its cost me 1400 wiv wheels n suspension declared.i bet the best quote ul get will be about 3000 on a gsi

madness, i passed my test in december, im 18, and i bought for my first car as gsi, insurance quote for me now im 19 (coz the cars off t road at the mo and uninsured) is £1125 fully comp, cant remember who with, so im gonna hafta do alot of ringing around!!, any way....
keep the body standard, buy 15s or 17s, 60mm drop on springs+shocks, k+n, zorst, loose the back seats, get some buckets and a carbon bonnet........cool.

This is what i would do to my GSI if i was keeping it:
Astra GSI bonnet vents
Refurb wheels (colour black, white or titanium finish)
Plenty of engine mods
Irmsher rear extension (for rear bumper)
Morrette conversion
maybe vectra estate spoiler
colour code handles, boot handle & gutter strips

DONT DO WHAT I DID.
Get slight mody mods. Nothing too major, then use the money you have saved to work on the engine.
I have lost cost of the time people have asked "want a race" or "what engine you got in there"
Little do they know its only a 1.2 8v  so i tell them and i get laughed at.

ye, u have to keep it subtle. i agree 15s wiv a 60mm drop will be mint. as for insurance, i think its a group 10/11 on a GSI, and if u think ur dad will pay 7500quid for ur number plate i am sure u have enough money to get insured. just go on his insurance, i have a group 7 insurance car and its onlky 650quid and im 17.
