if i win, then what? does i need 2 get in contact with the bloke or summit? send him a cheque? etc

Normally they contact u with how to pay, but if they don't after a day or 2 contact them..

say summits going for 5 quid and ill pay UP TO 10 quid for it
how does that work, do i need 2 sit at my pc at 4am bidding?

if the item is on £4 and u put a a maximum of £10 on then ebay will put a fiver on 4 u. If someone else bids £6 then ebay will automatically increase your bid and will keep incresing it until it reaches the maximum you told it (in this case it's a tenner).
How I win stuff is to wait till about a minute left on the auction then put my bid in.

i keep buying stuff and the feckers aren't getting in contact with me, been emailing people and they just don't do anything, stinking fcuks, all of em.

u are a sellers bain then
when the auction finishes, you'll get an email from ebay, saying so. there will be a link to the checkout, which you should follow through to inform the seller how you are paying. Alternatively, email the seller telling him how you intend to pay. Dont be an arse and wait till he emails you asking for money, its just plain rude and a waste of peoples time.
