Bought my the car over a month ago and I've just bought some 17s.

Problem is on the passenger side both wheels were put on, by the looks of things, one of those electric socket guns.

So both locking nuts are on WAY too tight and everytime I try to take them off, they just slip out and damage the nut.

Any ideas how I can attempt to get them off?

Been told I can just hammer a socket a size smaller on and pray that works.... OR drill a hole down the centre to get it off.

Help me please.

Drilling a hole down the centre will ease off some of the preassure.Get a decent cobalt drill bit and drill or you will be there all day.

cant u take it to a garage with one of them socket guns then theyy be off in no time...........

i have just the tool at work....cant say what it is..or all those till scrot bags can nick ure wheels piece of piss...but if all else fails...take it 2 a garage as mentioned...me air wrench at work can power up2 750nm either way..so i hope that works

my work has got a hoooge bluepoint impact wrench, dunno what the force is on it, and one time it wouldnt take an igniter plug out of the engine we were shittin ourselves! but then it was a GE90 engine exposed to much much higher temps than a corsa!

personally id say get a scaffold pole and get someone to hold your brace onto the wheel so it dont fall off, put the pole over the brace and step/stamp/jump on the pole

yup, well we got a big one! they use it for removing bolts in the landing gear legs on 747 and 777 aircraft.

just hammer a socket on, but use one of those dual hex ones which have lots of little teeth rather than flat sides. Should come off easy enough

blue point is a brand name that snap on use for tools which they dont actually make themselves!

id say use a single hex...as they r much better...as they have contact all the way around the nut/bolt

when the garage bust my lockin wheel nut key i just hammered a 17 mil socket on and they came off in no time

snap-on make special sockets which u push over a locking wheel nut, and just undo it...they will undo ne locking wheel nut avalible

Tried this an hour ago and it just shreaded the inner teeth and came off.

Well Lucky B and I had 1/2 an hour's shot at it just now and still no luck.

Getting desperate so going to take it to Renault tomorrow and see if they can shed some light on it.

If not looks like i'm forking out some £££ for some quality drill bits and taking a risk on drilling through the centre.

the nuts are recessed so welding isn't really a possibility.

I reckon J-Me will need to drill em off
