starting to download films as .avi format.

can watch them fine on the 'puter, but wanna burn them to disc to watch on dvd player. don't really have a clue how to go about it.

also how do i split it down, i.e to get a 900mb file onto 2discs?

i just let nero convert formats takes forever though if u got it just click make vcd and it will automatically convert and burn hope that helps.

adobe premier 6.5

and to record, go to nero

just use the wizard, other format - video cd, then drag ya file across

I use Tmpgenc to convert from avi to mpg then use nero to burn as vcd...downside is it takes quite a while on my computer as its only 650mhz

same here mate, you can also use this prog to split it into 2, but only in mpeg format.

virtual dub will let u split avi formats too

one more thing.

doe sit change the size when it burns as vcd or svcd?
or will a 700mb .avi segment fit onto one disc?

700 mb will fit on to one cd -you will have to finalize the cd though with nero

by the way were you getting youre films from?
if you look at what youre downloading -download a film with just bin and cue files instead of avi -then you just burn the image with nero and its done
