Going by my upgrade from 16" from 13" there is tonnes more grip there now. Its a harder ride but I can't notice much loss of acceleration. I think this is due mainly to the extra width and grip of the better tyre. It handles like its glued to the road now

I'd recommend mytyres.net, although they were out of stock of my Proxes when I needed them! There £20 cheaper than what I paid from there.

Why not just sell the 15s & buy the 16s?

I think the extra width will help yes, but like everything - you get what you pay for.

I waited years to get my alloys and tyres. Id recommend instead of bying just tyres for your 15s, wait, save and then get your 16s with good tyres too. the difference will be more noticable and you'll appreciate the purchase loads more too.
