Took my 1.2 to the local garage this morning asked for a while you wait mot and he said no problem wiil be about half an hour. £40.75 it was to cost me which i think is a bit steep but what the hell.
any way bloke was doin the usual and he noticed that the far inside of my tyre tread was rather low (which it is but it still had about a 1mm depth) the rest of the tyre was fine i would say it was less than 1/5th of the tyre. anyway dat wasnt all.....
he also failed me cos the side repeters were clear and were shining white light rather than amber. i think that is bollocks tbh it wasnt completly white light it had a yello tinge to it!
anway i went away and had to get two new rubbers and some new bulbs they cost me £80 in total.
Now im a lot poorer than i was his morning!
What a poo day!

Well to be fair he has failed you as he should.
Low tyre tread is a problem because loss of grip and also because of an increased risk of a blow out caused by the strength in the tyre surface being lost.
I have clear side repeaters with orange bulbs, it passed fine because mine is definatly orange.
Yet on the other hand I have seen a fair few vectra's with white repeaters on the back, pisses me off because its far too bright.
