It snot worth modifying a 1.2 8v for performance, the amount it will cost to get a small amount of extra BHP is not at all worth it. The best performance modification is to do a 2.0 16v engine transplant.

unfortunately, you cannot tune these engines. a complete re-build (pointless) will get you the original 45bhp. All the performance mods in the world wont see a safe 50bhp from this engine. If you cant afford to drop a new engine in, then you will have to forget moding the engine until you are older and have more money to spend. Its an expensive hobby. Focus your time on bodywork and ICE for now.

Im not really after more performance to tell you the truth i just want the engine to run as smoothly as it did the day it was born, i know what you mean about spending money on ICE and bodywork but i can only understand the ICE bit cos if you spend money on midfying your body itll still have a shite engine ..... to me its ICE then engine then body!!!

@ Dan
Seriously though, the amount u'd spend on re-building the engine, you could probably buy 2-3 2nd hand engines.
Its really not worth it. Just wait till the engine goes pop and swap it out when it does.

Just get some 15's and slam it on its arse, then induction kit for a bit of a roar and a decent back box to get a nice sound, thats what I have done. It aint quick in a straight line but I can fight bigger cars off on the twisties due to handling.
