I'm off to simpson salvage yard on Saturday near York. A few of my mates been there and they said they have some good cars in there. Anyone been.

I dunno if i'm gonna buy anything yet but i wouldn't buy anything that needs too much work cos i can't do it myself.

But you can get some with a few dents in the doors and a wing mirror missing.

Has anyone here had any experience of buying from a salvage yard. What should i look for and what should i stay clear of.

Claire here's the directions from the website. hope it helps.

We are located 10 miles east of York. (Do not go into York) From either the A1 or the M1 take the A64 signposted York; (This forms a southern bypass round York.) From this bypass take the A166 signposted Bridlington; (Do not go as far as Bridlington!) After approx 6 miles drive straight through Stamford Bridge; (selection of shops / eateries etc) After 2 miles turn right signposted Full Sutton Ind Estate. (follow the signs through the village to the Estate) You can't miss us on the left.

I will definetly be staying clear of anything with engine damage, cos i know f**k all. But body work can be replaced.

Scott: Do you get the "bolt-on" replacements from the salvage yard or do you get them elsewhere?

Oh yeah, i was just talking to someone at work and they said a car that had been crashed wouldn't be HPI clear and it would mean insurance would be higher. Is this true??
