how many of ur have a corsa that is able to reach the rev limit in the 5 gear, i figured my corsa had to be doing 240 kmh by comparing what it dos at 3k and 4k... And for thoose ho have the F28 , are u able to hit the rev limit in the 6th gear, and what speeds are we talking about then??

I hit the limiter once in my old 1.4, but was going down a steep hill, so thats the only way I was able to do it!
The speedo indicated around 125-127mph, so I reckon I was more likely doing about 120mph

On a straight though, it would indicate around 110max (reckon about 102-105mph at the wheels though), but it would need quite a run to get to it!

i got mine close to the limiter in fifth (1.4 16v) and it was reading 127-8mph

but that was downhill,

normally it will only comfortably get to about 110, but i don't baother n e more cause it's more comfortable travelling at sensibly speeds.

I've had mine on the limiter in 5th bare in mind it was set at 6500 that's a calculate (real not indicated) speed of 130mph that's using the data loger for the engine managment, it was off the clocks. the rev limit is now 7.5k but the gear box has been re-geared to top otu at 136.1@7500rpm, but haven't have a chance to do that yet.

LOL @ hitting redline in 6th on F28!!

If its a standard box, then this is near impossible.

On the F28 (as standard), 6th was a long ratio cruising gear. I rmemeber tho, RDS off migweb once calculated, that you would be travelling at 192mph @ redline in 6th on F28 on 17" wheels.

But there aint many, IF ANY, vaux engines out there (even stage 3 c20lets) that could pull this.

Besides, you REALLY WOULDNT want to do anything over 150mph in anything but a high performance sports car that is designed for that sorta speed, especially not a Calibra or Cavalier i think bits might start to fly off.

However, i think most tuned 2.0 Turbo Novas/corsa etc can hit red line in 5th on the F28, which is bout 145-ish. I know of a couple of people off MIG, who had their 6th gear altered, so that the red line IS achieveable (bout 160mph), but why you'd want to do this, i dont know.

I'll tell you the Hyundai Coupe S has the shortest gear ratios. It only does 110mph! 90 mph is about 5000rpm. My dads hit the rev limiter a lot in his car...1.6 btw

130mph at 5000rpm.. then off clock and pulled to just over 5500rpm, so theoretically about 145mph and no where near the limiter!

If you want to know how fast it is, wait for it to snow then do a burnout.

Definately way off the clock in my old 1600.

Also had my corsa upto 80 when in the snow was quite funny, until the snow had fully melted under the wheels & then it killed the gearbox, but was fun while it lasted!
