Right i am a Fabricator/Welder and i have done this job for 5 1/2 yrs i am now workin @ Portasilo, i have worked there for just over 1yr. I have done this job for 6yrs and in this time i have lost a front tooth and sued my last company for 6k and cut my finger requiring 4 stitches and broke my elbow @ my present job.

My friend works @ Norwich Union as a consultant and gets the same annuak salary as me, He suggests i go work with him but my starting salary will only be 8.5k with a payrise every 6 months.

My brother and mum also think its time i got a new job.

What should i do?

I personally wouldn't take a drop in wage unless there was something very wrong with the job you're in.

Sounds like you've been unlucky with injury but that does beg the question - is this not avoidable? Surely all employees must not go through this amount of personal injury? The companys would be broke within a very short time!

I am only 23 now and this is what has happened to me. My injuries sustained are from doing the job as laid out out and using the provided safty equipment by the relevent companys.

The brother of a guy I work with does a similar thing Colin. He's always out of the country surveying bent shipping containers and pricing up repair. Thats definately a route worth looking in to I'd have thought.
