I am looking for a new computer for myself, but don't really know where to get the best deal. Ideally, i want to pay monthly as i can't afford to pay full up front!

Only thing is i don't know too much about computers! All i'd use it for is a couple of games, (mostly champ manager) and i'd use the internet alot!

What ive seen in dixons is a EMachines Intel Celeron Processor 2.7 GHz, with 15" TFT Screen, 512MB DDR Ram, 80GB Hard Drive and dvd-rom + CD-RW!! for £699.99

Or for £599.99 the same but with 2.6GHz and 256MB??

Any advice on what to buy and where from would be great!!!

Cheers

get the 600quid one then upgrade the ram to 512. will cost u 30quid to do. So worht the saving. I know the more expensive one has a betta processer but the difference is negligable.

and as for ram and mb etc. Ram is basically the memory the computer uses when using programmes. So the higher the better. Key to a good system is lots of ram and a fast processer. Then things like hard drive - is just a matter of much u think u'll need, but 80gb is plenty. Dvd rw is a nice feature to have. So looks like a good package. Maybe wortt upgrading to the 17'' monitor tho.

hhmm ok cheers so you think dixons would be good? If you could reccomend any other computer shops i can then compare prices etc.!!!

Would 256Ram be plenty enough to run a couple of games and stuff in the background or would it deff be worth upgrading to 512 once ive got it??

Also any makes to watch out for?

Don't build your own unless you can source parts very cheap. I'm confident doing it but would have saved very little and wasted a load of time faffing about with stuff.
