Need some help for an Asssignment... Got a Fibre Ops backbone, need to make it into Cat5 ...

Do i use a hub/switch etc..etc.. for this ? or do i need a convertor sorta thing ?

I know a bit, not loads we got cat 5 network 100mb then fibre optic to other site.... linked switches

So the fibre optics come into each building, go into a switch and it's Cat5 everywhere else ?

you should have the line from the exchange into a wall socket and then plug router etc.. into that then you switch/hub to your local network.

Yup, fibre to a port on the switch, and then obviously the switch will be patched in as per usual

ok... does it need a special switch to handle the fibre optics ? I assume, one port for Fibre optics, then a normal patch lead to uplink to other switches or something ?

Well, normally you'll have a fibre port or two on the switch, in addition to the other regular ports
