That's well dodgy, got a feelin some of mine will soon, it's well bodged up with plaster in one bit and when it rains a lot the ceilin leaks! Bloody landlords. Needless to say I repositioned my bed...

same thing happened to me,
builders made the ceiling cave in.
only about 50cm x 20cm.

but they said they'd sort it all out.
