Thinking about a project for next year, gonna build me a street sleeper, totally strip it out (either Nova or Corsa) put an XE or LET in it, coilovers, uprate brakes, and keep it looking fairly standard from the outside, (subtle 15in alloys)

So the question is, Nova or Corsa and why?

the nova is a risk as if you stack a nova you stand no chance, esp with a ex or let in, as the engine packs out the bay, and more.

Altough a nova will be much cheeper to buy and get parts for, and there are many more guided for DIY stuff than for the corsa.

It all swings and roundabouts, chicken or then egg, i say tomato you say bacon.

Corsa -> stronger chassis, bigger engine bay, more structurally sound, less chance of rust and more modern shape.

Nova -> lighter, less extras as std (no need to worru bout air con, air bags etc). Was gonna say Nova is better round bends, but with c20xe up front, both are equally bad.

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=106218&page=1

Looks lovely that does, How much does the cheapest base model Corsa go for these days? don't give a crap bout engine, interior, wheels, suspension as it will all be either stripped out or replaced, I do love that Arden blue though!

Nova - without a doubt.

Ask anyone in motorsport that question and 99% will say Nova.

The most common excuse is strength - but a Nova will be just as strong as a Corsa after seam welding and strengthening has been done. There might be the very slightest difference, but you will never be able to feel it - anyone who says they can is lying.

As for a 2.0, why not throw in a 1600 16v competition prepared engine? It'll handle a huge ammount better and will be just as fun. Plus as a 1.6 you'll still waste 2.0 cars.

I like the idea of a Lada though...

Possibly...

But then again, theres the weight saving and the driver of the 2.0 might be useless!!!

I know a Nova 1600 16v tarmac car that would still beat a 2.0 like you suggested.

Vibrio is an immature child.

If you havent got anything good/positive to contribute to the post, DO NOT POST IN IT.

Oh and please come round to my workshop and inspect my Nova. If you find ONE piece of rust on it, I'll give you 1,000,000 pounds sterling.

that will be quite hard to find one piece of rust, as since it's a nova, its likely to have several bits

Nova with the same engine as a corsa will out run the corsa. also corsa's seem to gain rust on the underside pretty quick, novas rust on the arches, but it's hardly expensive to get new panels on.
Plus corsa's handle like well, not so well. And in spirints hillclimbs etc.... nova's are prefered over corsa, not due to shell cost, but handling, and corsa's are lardy.
