Been there, pretty expensive for what they do, and their site doesnt detail too much on how to do it urself (obviously, coz thats how they make their money)
I wudnt pay £600+ for them to do summat that i cud buy+fit myself, then get the fuelling set up for sod all by a derv specialist

cheers Mark - I never thought of that actually - i know the Citreon Zantia has the 1.9 TD block with front mounted I/C And i think some 406's as well.
As for using Samco hoses the whole way thru - very expensive, and i doubt i'd achieve better efficiency coz the rest of the system is standard

You don't need 2 intercoolers, going to be much better airflow and efficieny with one larger one than 2 small ones

cheers ad...
What bout one smaller external one, totally bypassing the old top mounted one?
Any other probs i might come across? With the increase of piping etc cause reduction in boost coz of the pure volume of the pipin involved?

a) Frontera
b) just have one
c) Samco Silicone 4-ply hoses
d) best to have it away from the radiator so that neither are blocking airflow to the other

a decent intercooler shoudl allow airthrough it however you need space between it and the radiator.

My rad is like the whole depth down to the bottom of the front bumper, right up to the grille
Wot do u reckon to.......Larger top mounted I/C with cool louvres (obviously ducting air in, onto the IC)

My engine hardly ever touches 90 degrees, and thats in traffic, so i'm guessin having a 20cm high IC shudnt be too much of a prob.
Will the fact that ICE cold rain + wind will be going straight onto a hot I/C cause crackin issues or anything?

but if your worried about cooling the air that has already passed through one cooler is gonna be warmer than fresh air

Don't run 2 intercoolers, it will just increase lag and diesels are slow enough already...
You want to get a proper cooler at the front, get one off a sierra cosworth, there quite slim but very efficient. They are cheap as chips on Ebay or the RSOC.

he was talking about the intercooler mounted infront of the radiator or vica versa, so your going to get the hot air from the back of the intercooler going into the radiator so it's not going to be as efficient as it would be if you had cold fresh air hitting the intercooler and radiator

Got ya.
So the low down is:
Dont bother with second intercooler, will increase lag (makes sense). I'm better of just goin for an uprated intercooler in the same position (summat like what Allard do), and maybe some cool louvres ducting cold air onto the IC.
That right? Any other suggestions?

hmmm its still under consideration
i've also emailed the derv specialist who did my tune up, but he's away for a bit so i thought i'd see wot some of u lot said.
Come to think of it.....
Stage 1 = fuel + boost reset 115-120bhp
Stage 2 = uprated top mount I/C with fuel + boost reset 130-135bhp
stage 3 = (in addition to above) front i/c, stainless free flow zaust, improved induction and fuel/boost reset again 140+bhp
So i dont think i shud be skippin stages really? Ad was right

why not use your current one and front mount it, it will work a lot better, it must be infront of the rad or its just gonna get hot air.
plastyic is fine, turbo hoses on my bros corsa are plastic, metal on mine for some reason though, if you want samco its gonna bump the price of serious amounts. that stuff is about 40-50 quid a metre

My I/C is masshoooov (coz its pretty slim line) and unless i brought it right outside on the front bumper, i've got no where to mount it. I'd need like one like that cossie one in that otherpost, which i could mount in the valance :s
As for hoses - yeah i agree. Wud probably try and get hold of some cheap alu ones from somewhere, otherwise just use plastic + rubber.

personalli i would just get a scooby bonnet vent first, this must be one of the only bodywork mods which will actually increase power and torque

Kris - I was having a look at a 1.7TD on Sat and that didn't have a safety valve either so i think they must have got rid of P onwards
