Just had my rage backbox fitted and centre silencer removed and its extremely loud! Will I get stopped? How loud can your exhaust be before you are in trouble?
Thanks in advance

Just found this on Total Street Car (it relates to a question about music-volume from cars, but seems to cover any "noise" from a vehicle, which I'd assume to include exhausts):

=====
The law in relation is noise is covered by two main acts. The first which you would have been warned under is The Environmental Protection Act 1990. This basically covers noise emitted or caused by a vehicle, machinery or equipment in a street causing a statutory nuisance. There is no set level and therefore no equipment is necessary to measure the level or volume, which is a common belief. It is down to an enforcement officer, normally an officer from the environmental health, to decide what level deems to be a nuisance The driver and registered keeper will be served a form as you have been done stating that you have committed an offence under this act. Both the driver and registered keeper are liable. If you are then further found committing a further offence the officers then have further powers under the Noise Act 1996 to seize any equipment used to commit the offence. This would result in a summons to appear at court with a maximum possible fine of £5,000 if found guilty.
My advice would be to stay in area's with a high background level of noise, such as outside arcades and amusements and when in residential area's keep your music to a low level and your windows closed. If you contact your local environmental health office I'm sure they will be able to advise you further and give you a copy of their recommended guidelines.

MInes pretty loud (as boyracer2002) can certainly vouch for...

In short, no MOT style test for noise on cars, only a disturbing-the-peace type of charge.

mine can be heard about 2miles away lmao
