I had to take my wheels off today, the so called mechanic that last worked on my car tightened them to over 100lb, including the locking nuts. The lock nut heads were totally rounded off and I've had to have them drilled out
Gonna see this clown and get some compensation I think.

Surely £300 is a mistype and you mean £30?? Still being a stupid price.

No, £300, apparently its half a days work to drill them out, hence £300

I've got the softer ones off in the past by driving a socket onto them, these bolts though are steel, and just split the socket. I tried two tyre fitters to see if they could help, they tried with no luck. In the end I tried a local garage that I sometimes use, he was a bit wary of damaging the alloys but he got them off, cost £10 a side though.

my tool is a like a socket but has a left hand thread inside so as you turn it on with a bar the thread inside grips the nut and turns it the other way
