mates got a cordless optical one. really really good. works from ded far away and you dont have to have it in line with the receiver, think it works on bluetooth or somethin. i dunno. also charges itself up wen u put it in its little holster wen not using the comp. its a LOGITECH one if that helps. good bit of kit

I have had 3 optical mice and all of them have been reallt shit !!! 2 of them were Microsoft and the one i've got now is by hp and is also cordless. I've gotta say how shit optical mice are !!! Cordless is great but optical is shit !!!

got one of the very first microsoft optical explorer's here, cost be 50 quid back in the day and its a great bit of kit Had its ages and its lasted and still works - only problem ive had is that a wire broke inside the cable, but gave it to my old man to fix and its working as good as new only downside i have is that you need a non shiny or reflective surface to use it on, so my current mouse mate is the insides of a cornflake packet works though so

dunno about those wireless jobbies, never used one.

Logitech MX700 sucks cock

T'is my favourite PC peripheral. Good range, good battery life. Got cruise control buttons, browser forward and back, and application switcher.

Got a docking station to charge it up over night .
