is it at all possible to play a dvd on a normal cdrom drive?

is there some software you can get for your machine that will allow this.?

dont laugh! the only reason i asked is coz im a tight arse and dont wanna go spend money on a dvd player!

i aint sure - i doubt it BUT ive heard you can copy dvd's in a standard non dvd cd writer, so anything is possible, ya never know

the lens on a dvd laser is much finer than on a standard cd-rom its about twice as fine i think. the cd-rom would just not see the content

dvds have like 7 layers on them

no way on earth possible unless it takes the dvd, makes it a vcd and burns it
