My birds fiesta has gone funny she says...

She said the gear stick has gone funny, it stays where ever you leave it rather than always return to the centre and gears are harder to engage and only push in slighly like a close ratio gear box, which sounded werid...This sounded unfamiliar to my corsa but i have been told by someone that it could be that something needs tightening? is this true? anyone know about it? Cheers..

sounds like the linkage could be mash-up, but the clutch and transmission is pretty wank on the 1996 face-lift models onwards

Cheers guys....The engine is made by Zetec i believe but it is a normal 1.3 Fiesta ...i think its a bloody encore or finess or something , one of the boring models... Where abouts would i find the guider rod? and how would you fix it... not used to these Ford problems but i'm pretty knowledgable on the Vauxhall engines...if you give me a clue i could probably sort it, what does it look like and what would you do to sort it? Cheers again!

if its the 1.3, itll be the 1.3 8v jobbie, not the zetec, as these were 1.25 and 16v

yup i was thinking that
8v is a duratec whitch used to be nammed the old crossflow engine

16 are zetec or zetec se for the new ones
1.3 duratec\crossflow 1.25 zetec16v 1.4zetec and 1.6 zetec s

atually, i take that back, it was a duratec engine, with a zetec badge on the back

The gear linkage remote (the two rods underneath and the gear stick itself) is fooked (plastic bushes) ford no longer sell it complete so get a secondhand one.
