you take off what is necessary mate till the scuff has gone then sctoch it off and paint. adhesion promotor is what is sounds like lets the paint stick no need to prime wheels either

I reconditioned about 3 wheels now using a small amount of filler over scuffs etc, then sprayed it & laquered it.
All came out really well 7 you couldn't tell the difference from the other whels ( re sprayed in anthracite btw)

Painting stock EX rims

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I used this technique on my rims and am sure it could be used for other types of rims as well.

1. Remove wheel(s) from car.

2. I completely washed mine first but this is optional.

3. Sand all surfaces to be painted with 320 grit sandpaper, spray off with hose and let dry.

4. Now, sand surfaces with 400 sandpaper until smooth. Spray off again with hose and let completely dry. (I bounced the tire up and down and then let sit in sun to dry)

5. Mask off tire. I used masking tape and it sucked, couldn't get it to stick very well. I heard duct tape works also.

6. If using primer, follow instructions on can for application.

7. After primer has dried (if used) start with very light coats of paint. I used Dupli-Color Wheel Paint (graphite).

8. After every coat, i waited 10 mins inbetween coats, and an hour after the fourth and final coat.

9. Clear coat can be used after the paint to bring out the extra shine. I didn't use any. Follow directions on can. Number of coats is your choice.

Enjoy the new look of your rims!

cant find the other link i had guy did it to his own porsche rims
