trying to copy a 'dat' file from a cd onto my harddrive, but get the message
cannot copy file - data error (cyclic redundancy check)
wots this mean - is the cd fucked or wot?

Double-click the My Computer icon.
Locate and double-click Program Files.
Locate and double-click Common Files.
Right-click the **** folder and select Rename.
Name the folder *****Old
Begin the installation of wat ur copying
- off the net mate from a search!!!

your computer sends data in packets when tranfering it. to do this it uses acknowledgements at the end of each packet to make sure the whole packet was transfered.
basically its saying that its not geting some bits of a certain packet or a group of packets
its normally caused by bad media(bad disk)

CRC - cyclic redundancy check is a check thats performed on every packet in a ethernet packet, so probley bad data
damm it beaten to it lol
