In April this year i will be 21 and want to buy myself a nice motor.
I work as a mechanic at a Volkwagen and Audi specialist and i have been impressed with the build quality of the cars i work on and i have seen there are better things than vauxhalls.
I want either a 3-5 year old,
* MK4 Golf 1.8 20v GTi Turbo
* Audi A3 1.8 20v Turbo Sport or
* Seat Ibiza Cupra R 1.8 20v Turbo

Please help me, i will have about 6-8 grand to spend.
Thanks for any advice.

They are rare and not yet in my price range. There are 2 different types of the same engine. The Audi TT one is 225 BHP and the Leon Cupra R one has a different inlet to get its extra power. The version i was gonna get is the 150 BHP its cheaper to insure but easy to tune up to the same spec as the TT engine.

for the running costs, insurance costs and so on there's more point to getting an A4 than an A3.

I know where there's a Volkswagen Golf 2.0 GTi , Petrol, 2001 X Reg for £8495(offer the dough they'll do business for 8k i bet).

Or how about a Ford Mondeo 2.5 ST24 , Petrol, 2000 W Reg for under £6k?

Vectra 2.2 SRi 150 for £7595??

Vectra 2.6 SRI V6 for £6495??

Impreza 2.0 Turbo 5DR Hatch, 1998, R reg £7250

Subaru Impreza 2.0 WRX Turbo £6300

Peugeot 406 Sports/Coupe V6 2946cc £6995

And last but not least...

if you can stretch to £11,950...

Subaru Impreza Saloon RB5 Ltd Edn 2.0

mmmmmMMMMMmmmmmm...

there's more but they're more performance luxury cars rather than middle to small sized...

the ECU can detect a problem with you dump to atmosphere for some reason so the car can go into limp mode

Yeah i know but between VW Audi Seat and Skoda there is about 5 or 6 different specs of the 20V Turbo engine From 150 BHP up to 225 BHP using different maps, inlets and fuel rates. They are all good strong reliable engines and you can tune them to 400+ BHP

Untrue - Yes, it has been heard of but it can be done. I have mine on, with no problems at all, no limp mode problems and it works well.
