Can I download some software that splits a track so you can remove whoever is singing on the song and just have the music only?

for windows: Cool Edit Pro 2000 or Cubase SX. Cubase is a bit more for production though.

impossible to do it properly. vocals are usually high frequency so if you take out the high frequencies you'll loose a lot of treble etc,

Its impossible - best bet it to filter the sound - take out the low frequencies but your only gonna be able to do that with female vocals. Still - your gonna still get the treble of the snares' hi hats, strings etc -

Its like making bread then asking if you can take the flour out.

mav is right it is impossible. i have done courses in studio engineering and there is no way u could do this PROPERLY from a .wav or .mp3. if u had hte studio files, which are huge, and a version of cubase or logic then yes u could do it. but u wont find those sorta files anywhere. ur better off jus searching for an instumental of the track tbh

yes its impossible, and i like mav's analogy!
the vocals are embedded into the sound, and not a seperate track of the song.
u could try and del some freq. ranges, but it will sound very off key.

yep, just search for the instrumental version.
