Thats bad Ian. My dad died of cancer a year ago and the 1 thing i needed was my friends so make sure he knows ur there 4 him.

Offer 2 take him out 2 i know it might seem like the last thing he would want 2 do but it worked 4 me. My pals dragged me out the week after and it did make me feel better, although i did feel guilty about doing it. But i thought my dad wouldnt of wanted 2 c me miserable, i just thought of it as me ahving a drink 2 celebrate his life. He mite not want 2 but its worth a try.

i agree with the above. A good friend's dad died suddenly (was fine one day, 3 days later was dead) and it completely destroyed her cos they were so close. This was about 18 months ago, and shes started to open up a bit, she i know how grateful she is that she knew i was there for her to talk to if she needed to, or even just to get out of the house and sit around watching TV. Its a really harsh thing to happen to anyone, but make sure they know you ar there for them.

yea one of my mates dad passed away recently, didn't know what to say to her when i met her.. didn't wanna mention it..
but she told me and she's taken it the best she can.. just tell em that he can talk to you confidentially and that ur there for him etc..

best thing to do is be normal with them, cos they'd want to keep their minds busy not thinkin about it..

its very sad thing
