Sorry, no pics yet.

I was going to buy my bro-in-law's old MK2 Golf GTI off him for £50 but after telling him I dont intend to modify it but instead restore it to its former glory he has decided just to give it to me and he wil help me restore it.

Its a 1989 Golf GTI 8v with 139k on the clock. It needs a new drivers door and front wing and a respray but apart from that its in excellent working order. Cost to me = £0

Ive sourced the parts I need (totaling £105) and im pricing resprays.

Im thinking Boston Green respray, 16" BBS alloys and 16v badges. Im wanting to leave it pretty standard and just looking tidy and clean.

Your right Ian Boston Green is BMW. I think it would look good on a Golf. There's no point in me insuring the MR2 if im just gonna drive this so my mum is driving about in my MR2 for free! I have to wait to Sept til im 25 then I will probably insure both.

Colin, I was pricing the engine conversion to change the 2 into a turbo but its just not worth it. They are two very different cars. The cost of the parts and labour combined means its better just to sell up and buy one. I only bought it coz I knew I could afford the insurance eventually plus I love them and dont ever want to sell it. Its a mint collectable as far as Im concerned.

I know I was just saying. There's no point in trying to just change the engine.

You could do it for £2/£2.5k but to do it right you talking nearer £3.5/£4k. Everyone on the IMOC site advised against it.
