the past 2 days my car has been running very very limp. when in low gear and putting your foot to the floor, it flat spots extremely badly. when you get to sbout 4000 RPM, it doesnt seem as bad. it also misses but only when accelerating in low gears

i have replaced the plugs and no luck. have also checked all vacuum pipes etc, and nothing is amiss.
i was thinking it could be cam sensor, or crank sensor

anyone else had problems like this? anyone got any ideas about what to do about it?

Take the plugs out and inspect them, any cocking is from one of them not firing properly. Then pull off all the HT leads and the DIS pack and put them back on. Sounds like the DIS pack might be packing up

It's the black block on the R side of the engine that all the HT leads go in to, a DIS pack is a coil pack really, it replaces the distributor. When it fails thenyou loose sparking. Best to borrow someone elses and swap around bits.

i had my suspicions about a coil pack? am i right in saying that i have 2 coil packs and if one of them goes down then 2 cylinders go down too?

any idea how much dollar and work its gonna be to replace if that is what it is

@3CorsMeal --> what car and engine you got bro? and how long have you had this problem for?

just got back from the local garage. they didnt even hook it up to the diagnostic machine. they guy up there seemed to think from the symptoms i explained to him that the bottom pulley on the engine could be the problem.
he said that it can wear and slip, casuing the valve timing to be out.
anyone else had any problems like this with theirs?

if the valve timing was out m8 ur car wouldnt be running at all. for the hassle ur having id take it to vaux and get them tech1/2 it for ya. its much simpler than all the guesswork!

absolute waste of time putting it on the tec 1 as the management light is not coming on. although the guy at the garage did it, and alas, no codes were found.

and hes a decent geezer and i do not think he would be pulling a fast one

im gonna have a check of the bottom pulley tonight hopefully and soon see if thats what it is
