Got my spoiler yesterday, it's currently in black and laquered, do i need to sand back to primer or just sand it back till the surface is all dull and smooth?

Depends really on the condition of the spoiler... if its fibreglass, in most cases the poor mouldings result in a crap finish with pin holes excess gell goat etc, you may need to sort that side of the prep first. However if its good condition, then really all you want to do is key the surface so the paint has something to grip... we't'dry or scotchbrite will be fine. Then use a really high quality panel wipe ie one with a long flash off to give the spoiler a wipe clean before painting.
