Did a dummy build on the engine today. Now just needs the block skimming, the crank regrinding and the pistons ceramic coating. 190 bhp 1.4 16 valve here we go.

"During winter 2001, a 1.4 16-valve engine was sourced from the breakers for the 2002 season. Now fitted with a standard crank, rods, pistons with pockets machined in pistons for clearance.QEP reworked the cylinder Head which is now fully ported on standard size valves with bronze guides and fitted with SBD cams, valve springs and titanium spring caps. QEP made a fywheel machined from Aluminium billet with EN24 friction plate - weighing 2.25Kg. The engine was also fully balanced.
Breathing is via a throttle body kit from SBD, new 2½” bore exhaust and 4 branch SBD manifold. Quaiffe supplied the gear box internals."

"2nd time around on the rolling road at Brooklands Motorsport gave us 161 BHP at the flywheel @ 8000Rpm."

Since the above spec, we now have S.B.D. pistons running 11.8:1 compression, even more head work, electric water pump, ceramic coated head, valves (stainless) and pistons, full race cams, double valve springs, solid lifters and more I've forgotten I expect. I know that Matt at Q.E.P has spent about 100 hours on the head in the last year. That has to be a record.

At fault above was a pug 306 who didn't realise that I would get from 16th to 7th on the 1st corner, therefore punting me straight into an abandoned XR2

Suspension is fully adjustable Ledas on front with 350lb springs, rear is gas ledas with 4" 800lb springs. Not sure about road use now, but with previous cams it could have been easily.

120 for an hour of tuning and setting up is not bad, considering its 45 quid to just get a RR print out at power engineering (5 mins work)

jr, come and find us in the pits if you come down. Its only classed as "club" racing so its only about £10 to get in n and theres usually bout 10 races of various things.
Car should now pull 9 grand, it usually costs about £150 to enter a race, and if u break it in practice tough luck!
