I have had this PC since April 2002, its an AMD Athlon 200XP. ITs been throwing up loads of problems, so i decided to flash the BIOS to a new version. I have just spent the whole day talking to tech support and searching the net about my machine, and the jist of it all, my motherboard never existed I thought, this cant be true, but for some UNKNOWN reason, Time have used a VIA Apollo KT266A chipset with a motherboard by MSI called MS6382. According to an MSI specialist, the MS6382 was only supplied to a GERMAN computer firm of about 500 orders or so, and that no support can be given "at this time". So how the hell did Time get hold of this motherboard and stick it in my machine??!? No wonder im having massive hardware conflicts GRRRRRRRRR

no the problem is that Time have stuck an AMD 2200XP (1800mhz) chip on a board that only supports up to 1400mhz, and a bios has been bodged together to make it work. FUcking cheapskates

The one I posted above IS your board...
Also the board is available in the UK and US so I don't know what the 'specialist' is talking about...

Tim, that would be great but that BIOS is not compatible with the Apollo KT266A chipset, since it only supports the K7T266 Pro2 and K7T266 Pro2-RU drivers.

But the "K7T266 Pro2" is the model of the board, not the chipset... the "K7T266 Pro2" board uses a KT266A northbridge...
Also every other edition in the USA of the MS-6382 uses a VIA 8366A chip (i.e. KT266A) that I've just found...

then why does mine say both? "K7T266/A,KT333"

Because they both have the same hardware identifier and the system can't tell the difference between em?
Easiest way would be to look at the northbridge and see the code... if it's a KT266A then it'll say VIA8366A on the chip

if the K7T266/A,KT333 is reported via WCPUID, it just means it cant fully detect what chipset it is.
but your board should be the K7T266/A

so if it is the K7T266/A, it wont have a 333mhz FSB?
