Not much better than an XE. 0-60 wont be as good as a redtop.

Errr come on then sherlock, tell me how then?
0-60 will be slower, V6 engines are not meant for bottom end, then are a cc engine based for motorway miles. Once they get up to speed it'll pass a redtop, but a redtop corsa will do 135-140, a V6 will hardly do much more than that.
Beside, Beardy assumes a V6 is a redtop
Take your boyracer comments and go back to the carpark fool.

I aint too sure what the difference in performance would be, but for the small amount of extra power you add a fair bit of weight.....
C16XE all the way baby

A LOT of weight really. 2.5 V6 is what, 170bhp? 20bhp and about 20kg+?
From 50-100 a V6 would rape a redtop.
From 0-60 a retop would rape a V6.
So dont roll your eyes at me young man. Go back to cheating gas

Easily 20kgs I would have thought.
I dont think the V6 would rape the XE from 50-100, maybe in gear, but not flat out. Im only guessing though really.
Aren't V6 Cav/callys slower than the XE ones?

standard then daimo wot u are sayin in my opinion and in theory is totally correct
but in reality each setup is different and on this occasion i think the fact beardy is also fittin as u say "cheating gas" then traction permitting the v6 may just get the upper hand

Miles, a Cavalier V6 manual, 'rapes' a Cavalier GSi 2000.
The original test for the v6 cav Cesario with manual box, 0-60 6.9 secs Autocar, 0-100 in 18.9 secs.
Compare that to a Gsi 2000, not nearly as fast.

From TV (I know they aint 100%)
Cav Mk3, 2.5 V6 - 167bhp - 145mph
Vectra hits 60 in 8 seconds (Again 2.5 v6)
Even teh new 3.2 V6 only hits it in 7.4.

I just slip on my Anorak,
Cav V6 Cesario in Autocar, I got it in front of me here...
149mph
Cav's were not as heavy as the Vectra of course.

If he has the gas on and can get traction it will beat a redtop to 60, the little bit of weight hardly matters when you are running double the power.
It's all dependant on getting grip though, he could end up sat there still spinning wheels when the 2ltr is at 60

Seen a standard XE Corsa do a 6.4 0-60. Running on 15"s.
Hence why the Guru (or his brother) is hitting the same 1/4 mile times as most Redtop corsas running 15"s. Redtop will get off the line better, but V6 will gain when the speeds raise.

Just looked
Cally 16v - 8.2
V6 - 7.3.
I didn't think the V6 was that quick tbh.

Ok then if traction was not a factor for whatever reason...wouldn't a 2.5 V6 std in a Corsa beat a red top std in a Corsa. If its quicker in a Cavalier and Calibra why would it be different. Or am I DUMB ?

Autocar always seems to have these amazingly fast times over standard. Would always take with a pinch of salt.
Remember, Official times are done over a large amount of runs then the average is given. Doing a couple of goes and putting the best run isn't always what the engine can do

if a 2.5 in a vectra can piss over a 2.0 then why cant a 2.5 in a corsa piss over a 2.0
not being pedantic just a general question?
p.s i raced beardy when he had the 2.0 and to be honest there wasnt anything in it

Getting off the line is down to the driver. It seems to me that if the Cav/Cally 16v-V6's are apart, the same will apply when the same engines are in corsa's. Hence the V6 being quicker.

I can honestly say i've never seen a V6 beat a redtop up the strip. Thats watching both Cavs and Calibras going up the strip.
In fact, i've got a V6 calibra Vs a redtop on an old video i done. Redtop won.
But, for official results, we can wait for beardy to get his done.

I've had a crack at a Vectra V6. From 40-70 i was comfortably ahead. After this the V6 started gaining.

Here's one.
Fuck Autocar then.
I hired a Cavalier V6 years ago to go to Leicester. My mate followed me in his Astra GTE 16v (G reg with a k&n and janspeed) to pick me up when I took it back. He said he couldn't keep up with me.
