Here we go.

i want a badboy bonnet and i'd rather do it myself as a learning experience than take it to a bodyshop, not just i cant afford it, i really do like doing stuff like that myself. ( eg.Tiled the bathroom last week )

So basically i know that it requires plates to make the initial fram to be welded to the bonnet and then filler around it etc but my main question would be whether the plates have to be welded? i was thinking of fiberglassing then to the bonnet. I have a fair bit of welding experience and i've done harder welding tasks, but i cant really be bothered hiring a welder just for an hours work. the HSS shop is miles from me too.

Any ideas people? fibre glass would probably be too weak but i thought i'd ask incase anyone else has done it cos it would save me a headache.

Did u use the mesh as a template to fiberglass around?
I was basically thinking of using eyelids or something as a template so that i'd be sure of the bonnet closing over the head lights well, and then just fiberglassing and filling all round it.

Any tips matt

We always use steel and weld it up when making badboy bonnets mate, then p40 fibreglass to shape it, then fibreglass matt to give extra strength and finally a skim of filler to finish it. Bodyshops aren't really that expensive just for the panel work. Hope this helps mate

AdiSRI,

that gives me some idea on how its setup,

on the original lights does it sit over them ?

do you have an 'above' shot by chance?

thanks,

chris.
